This year the Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences (CSES) Club at the University of Arkansas took an innovative approach to expanding community involvement. In collaboration with the Watershed Conservation Resource Center and the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, the CSES Club will be hosting an educational field day for students from elementary schools in Northwest Arkansas. The field day will cover four important environmental concepts:  soil erosion, water quality, composting, and the value of native plants. We will supplement existing elementary curricula by providing hands-on demonstrations of these concepts. This will not only enhance the learning experience of the elementary students, but will also give CSES Club members the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to community contribution.
