Activities of the Brigham Young University Environmental Science Club promote environmental awareness among students and faculty.  This year’s activities include several local hikes to tops of Mount Timpanogos and Y Mountain.  The Club has also sponsored educational field trips to local wastewater treatment facilities and composting operations.  We will report on service projects at the BYU Recycling Center and the BYU grounds department.  In 2008, members of the Environmental Science Club traveled to the village of Retalteco, Guatemala to assist local students in the planting of trees to revegetate the watershed that protects the village’s drinking water.  We will report on the progress of the revegetation effort.
