Mineral Carbonation with Carbon Dioxide: Prof Lindsay's Idea.

Mineral carbonation of industrial solid wastes is an interesting concept. It involves mineralization of CO₂ (carbon dioxide) into carbonate minerals utilizing industrial solid wastes.  Mid 1980’s we proposed both aqueous mineral carbonation (AQMC) and accelerated mineral carbonation (AMC) of industrial solid wastes. These studies have stimulated a number of subsequent studies by other scientists and engineers around the world using solid by-products resulting from different industrial processes.  These studies endorsed that industrial solid wastes can be used as an effective materials to sequester CO₂.  Chronological development of AQMC and AMC processes of industrial solid wastes will be discussed.
