Symposium--Evapotranspiration: Monitoring, Modeling and Mapping At Point, Field, and Regional Scales: I

Oral Session

ASA Section: Climatology & Modeling

The main goal of this symposium is to report on advances in development and applications of ground-based measuring instruments/sensors (Lysimeter, neutron probes, Eddy covariance, Bowen ratio, scintillometer, ET gauges, etc.) as well as remote sensing techniques for mapping evapotranspiration/crop water use at plot, field, landscape and regional scales. Contributions may include evaluation of existing/new instruments for their ability to measure ET/surface energy fluxes accurately in different agrometeorological conditions, limitation and challenges, footprint analysis, use of IRTs and other sensors used for ET estimation, application of ET maps in precision farming research, application and evaluation of energy balance based ET methods, soil-vegetation-atmosphere transfer models, applicability of existing crop coefficients on new crop varieties entering the market, and effect of biofuel crops on regional water demand.
