Symposium--Wetland Response to Climate Change
Oral Session
SSSA Division: Wetland Soils
-
With predicted global temperature shifts and subsequent changes in hydrologic inputs we can expect wetlands to be impacted. I would expect some wetland types to be impacted more than others. Some may increase in size, some may decrease. Undoubtedly, there will be a shift in the regional distribution of certain wetland types. Can we predict, with some level of confidence, the major impacts, and identify the most susceptible wetlands. Should we change mitigation strategies to accommodate climate change? Topics for this session would include:predictive models, changes in acreage, wetland types most sensitive, changes in functions/services, adaptive capacity, impact on mitigation design.
Approved for 2.5 SW CEUs.
