Abstract:
On February 4, 2016, John Ramsey, Syngenta CEO announced that ChemChina made an offer to acquire Syngenta. He stated “I believe that this provides an excellent way forward for Syngenta that safeguards the interests of our employees, customers, and other stakeholders. Syngenta will remain Syngenta – a strong, global company headquartered in Switzerland, with the same management team. This deal will ensure strategic continuity, long-term investment in our company and our innovation, and continuing choice for growers.

Syngenta will be a private, standalone company with a single shareholder. ChemChina has an excellent track record of investing in western companies, and sees agriculture and global food security as key strategic areas for investment. Importantly, they have committed to the highest governance standards and our Code of Conduct, our Good Growth Plan, and our culture and values.”

On May 5, 2017 was an historic day for Syngenta as the shareholders accepted the offer from ChemChina.
