263 Symposium--Soils and Human Health: Linking Soil, Plants, and the Environment to Human and Animal Health
Oral Session
SSSA Division: Soil & Water Management & ConservationOne Health refers to the idea that human, veterinary, and environmental health are not separate entities, but are interconnected. A recent review noted that the environmental component of One Health is often under-represented, with only 4% of One Health articles being published in environmental journals. This symposium will introduce the general One Health concept, and examine how soils, plants and the environment are linked to human and animal health. In keeping with this year’s meeting theme “Synergy in Science: Partnering for Solutions”, symposium speakers will include international experts from the human, veterinary, and environmental health fields, and include perspectives from both conventional and organic farming systems.
